  • ZeRo4 + Boodah 2 vs 2 demos
    [...]The 519 boys returned home from their trip to Paris. TimYates aka Boodah. Boodah also brought back some souvenirs which were ZeRo4 + Boodah 2 vs 2 demos.
    Boodah talks about the trip to Paris and laid out several reasons why Amreica's #1 rated Quake 3 Team Deathmatch Squad couldn't get with the European powerhouse teams.
    In sum, 519 underestimated their opponents and rushed out to LA7 unprepared for the Championship.[...]
    Here's a breakdown:
    • He didn't expect the teams to play as smart or as disciplined.
    • 519 didn't set up voice communications
    • 519 didn't have any team binds. Without having teambind, they couldn't hear each other.
    • The other teams were talking in different languages which noone in 519 understood; since the teams understood english, they could listen to 519's strategies and team chats.

  • Instagib clone QuickDeath
    The mod is designed to add extra features in instagib.
    Most people think that instagib is a Mod, but they are wrong!
    Instagib is a gametype or simply a feature!
    Quick Death in that vision is not correct. Its not just an extra features, its all you ever wanted to play as a mod. It contains new gametypes, new features, new powerups, and lots more, just to improve instagib to a mod level.
    In quick death you are able to play against bots so you can train your rail skills offline whether in FFA, 1V1, Team and even in CTF! Also are little shards added, and when you pick those up you will make it possible to enhance your rail gun to a faster rail gun.
    Also does the extra powerups make it possible to enhance you movements.
    To say it simple.....
    Quick Death is the ultimate railgun experience

  • Spiderman MOD in finaly release
    Concept of the game:
    "[...]The real concept of Spider-Man TC is to take the Quake 3 engine and totally change it into a true 3d action/adventure based fighter, with complete freedom of movement and a diverse fighting system. Also planned are a realistic slinging system, incorporating gravity and other real physics effects. Along with these systems, we hope to have a broad range of environments and game play modes to take full advantage of the game. Additional things would like to add is a more extensive list of characters, a throwable object system. We would also like to include some sort of system that enables the user to gain access to special secret characters which would have benefits over the ordinary characters.[...]"

    DrSDutchWeed The great quake-server-guru just installed an other 196MB (and again: 196MB) to theDrS freeze clan server. The server is more lag-free now and I hope most of the old problems are solved.

  • Microsoft DirectX8.1b redist install
    Microsoft released a new version of DirectX for 98,ME,2000,XP. All in all it's just an other useless release of Microsoft's direct3d library and I hope most of the old bugs taken off the software.

  • Ultra Freeze Beta 5 - last before official release
    Ultra Freeze Tag has just entered beta 5! Barring any major problems, this should be the last before an official release. Here's a list of changes and fixes:
    • hardcode viewheight in following corpsicle
    • time played persist through team changes and not count up as a spectator
    • "/showinfo" command brings up server info box again
    • sane g_banIPs string (easily settable in config file now: do a seta g_banIPs "...")
    • add g_thawtime and g_autothawtime to ft-hook-rail.cfg
    • fix ref_listip
    • spectate own frozen corpsicle first
    • fix viewangles when spectating corpsicle
    • going into limbo when spectating a corpsicle that thaws
    • retain client ip for ref_clients on map change
    • fix corpsicle physics
    • tell player "already ready" when readying up and already ready
    • make atmospheric conditions depend on auto thaw time (most insta games will rain every other map, turn it off with "cg_weather" now)
    • reset powerups when spectating corpsicle
    • fix "shader not found" shader for non-team-game server info box
    • 1000% frozen in self freeze/thaw % display
    • not show chat bubble/awards when following a non-self corpsicle
    • sane door behavior when spectating corpsicle

    • change name to "Ultra Freeze Tag" on map load
    • suppress "you thawed / thawed you" messages when spectating a frozen teammate

  • DRS homepage looking for new place to be
    The home URL geocities.com and the domain hoster .tk isnt the best way to present the
    DrS homepage. Lots of commercials and popup windows keeping away the visitors.
    DrSDutchWeed: "We now are looking for a place to host it , so we need a webserver space somewhere, where we can execute Perl/CGI scripts."

  • MAP database update - Painkeep Arena
    Painkeep Arena mixes hardcore deathmatching with on the fly strategy by combiningweapons and defenses that guarantees the kill not for the one with the most powerful weapon, but for the one who can anticipate his opponents next move and provide either a defensive measure or an even more powerful attack to take out his adversary. Of course if your desperate, you can always eat lots of beans and hopefully gas them

    It does not sound as swashbuckling as 'The Three Musketeers' but the Three R's - Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho - are every bit as effective.
    Oliver Kahn has surrendered one goal in six World Cup matches, and that explains as well as anything how Germany has reached the final.

  • Freeze Tag 1.51b Released! - the 1.51a bug-monster is gone
    For all you Q3 freeze freaks who think, the latest changes to 1.51a are the death to all gameflow. Here's a list of some of the changes to this version:
    • Team icon cannot be seen through walls again
    • Falling into lava or the void will now only freeze you for 5 seconds
    • Lowered time spent frozen & time-to-thaw in Freeze CTF (same as insta times)
    • Cannot steal thaws (finally)
    • Bodies no longer stop you when walked over (Thanks to haste!)
    • Players no longer flash for a millisecond on spawn spots (Thanks to haste!)
    • Lag bug when people join is fixed (Thanks to haste!)
    • Changed it back to where you can follow anyone while frozen
    • Using Force Player Models now makes everyone be player model (not Sarge) (This actually works now!)

  • Ultra Freezetag closer to osp
    It's a version of Freeze Tag based on the original Freeze Tag for Quake 3 (big, big props to Doolittle for creating that masterpiece in the first place) called Ultra Freeze Tag! Here are the new client features:
    • Health and armor shown under a player's name when crosshair is over a teammate, word "Frozen" is shown under frozen enemy's name
    • % frozen or % thawed shown on the upper-right-hand corner of the screen (for yourself only), on the team overlay, and under a player's name when the crosshair is over a frozen teammate
    • "Last player" buzzer when your team has just one player left unfrozen
    • Team overlay shows current player highlighted in green, and last player highlighted in purple
    • Total time frozen in minutes on the scoreboard
    • Spectate frozen teammates when frozen yourself
    • Server options display appears for 15 seconds after connecting, or until the scoreboard is shown
    • Third-person crosshair and guide (when not disabled on the server)
    • Opt-in, client-side chat filter
    • New frozen body ("corpsicle") effects
    • Outdoor falling snow (easy on the FPS, but you can turn it off if you like)
    • Gameplay- or FPS-changing client settings are listed in SETUP->GAME OPTIONS

    And these are the new server features:

    • Grappling hook configuration options (fly speed, pull speed, reload time)
    • Optional rail jumping for instagib Freeze games
    • Reload factor for faster (or slower) firing for instagib Freeze games
    • Configurable thaw and autothaw times
    • Players' scores persist through team change (change teams without worrying about your individual score)
    • Server-side check for client software (run sv_pure 0 and clients without the PK3 get a big warning, including message to turn on autodownload and reconnect if sv_allowdownload is nonzero)
    • Round must last 5 seconds before a winner is declared (helps against single-freeze win behavior in instagib Freeze)
    • Players cannot "steal thaws" from other team members
    • Unlagged's server-side lag compensation with client tweaks for consistency (clients may also switch it off for themselves if they don't want it)
    • Three example configuration files: ft-casual.cfg, ft-competition.cfg, and ft-hook-rail.cfg
    • Wait...did one of those configuration files have the word "competition" in it?

    Why yes, it did! There were lots of requests to make this version of Freeze Tag suitable for serious competition games. Considering that to be a good challenge (and a very worthy thing to include):

    • cg_enemyModel, cg_enemyHeadModel, cg_swapSkins (you already know what these do if you compete)
    • Server admin can force free-floating frozen spectators to spectate team members only within n seconds (set g_forceNoFloat to the number of seconds - just like g_forceRespawn)
    • Server admin can enable readying up, timeouts, and team locking
    • Referee login and commands (very OSP-like, except they start with "ref_")

    And last, for anybody interested, here is a list of bugs fixed:

    • Client hitch (lag) when not forcing models and a player on the other team joins
    • Spectator flash-in bug (seeing players for a split second that aren't there)
    • Stumbling over bodies bug
    • Spectator door-warping problem (basically MUCH easier to get through doors as a spectator now)
    • Corpsicle physics issues (getting stuck in corpsicles, corpsicles getting stuck on the back walls of bouncepads)
    • Stuck-as-a-spectator bug
    • Grappling hook bugs (phantom hook, etc.)
